What is an Extended School?

Extended schools are schools in your area that work torgether to help children and young people to achieve their potential and increase motivation and self esteem.

How do they work together?

A cluster of schools come together in what is known in Hertfordshire as a 'consortium'. There are 38 consortia in Hertfordshire involving over 500 schools. extended schools work in partnership to provide access to a range of services for children and families to improve their achievement and life chances.

Extended schools are linked directly to 'Every Child Matters' and draw on the support, knowledge and expertise of a wide range of professionals from different agencies and services.
