Hub School Conference held Wednesday 3 October 2007
EXTENDED SERVICES HUB SCHOOL CONFERENCE A SUCCESS!
“Lots of information and keynote speakers were able to enthuse the delegates”
“Useful networking event"
“Clarified a lot of points”
“It was interesting to find out more about Extended Schools”
These were some of the comments made earlier this month, at a well attended conference held for hub schools and their partners, who are championing the extended services agenda in their local consortium.
The conference focused on exploring the Extended Services agenda and the role and responsibilities of hub schools. It was also aimed at helping hub schools to develop a greater understanding of the extended services core offer, and it provided the opportunity for them to get together with their local District Partnership Teams and look at action plans for the way ahead.
Key note speeches included the national and local perspectives on extended services.
Howard Kennedy, Director of Change, Development Directorate, Training and Development Agency for Schools - gave a presentation on the national overview, John Harris, Director Children's Services looked at the local perspective, and Jan Spavin, who was headteacher at Westfield Community Technology College and is now consultant to CSF for working on Extended Schools and Multiagency working - gave a presentation entitled, “The Development of the West Watford Consortium and Multiagency working', an account of how it works in practice.
