Extended Opportunities is funding that has been made available by the Government to ensure all the children and young people of our consortium can access the wide variety of activities we have on offer. Working with our schools and partners there are more activities available for our children and young people than ever before. Our schools are working with their pupils and their families to identify those who would benefit the most.
Interested? If you are interested in finding out more please contact your school in the first instance and find out if you may be eligible, as there are certain criteria that you will need to meet.
Eligible? If your school has already informed you that you are eligible, then read on for the next steps:
1) Discuss with your child the activities they would like to attend. Remember you can use your funding to assist with paying for transport to an activity, to purchase equipment to enable participation, to attend an activity as a family, as well as for the activity itself. Contact your school or your Extended Schools Coordinator for ideas.
2) Check if the provider has been approved for the project. All providers of activities must complete certain checks before they can join the project to ensure the safety of your child. Checks are underway with many providers- click here to see a list of those already approved.
- Where a provider's contact details are listed, you may contact them directly, but please ensure you have notified the school before you confirm any booking. If no contact details are given, please contact them via Preety Mehta, your Extended Schools Coordinator.
- If the activity you would like to attend is not listed, please contact Preety Mehta, your Extended Schools Coordinator, who will complete the checks for you.
3) Notify the school of the activity you have chosen, giving them details of the provider, the duration of the activity and the cost.
4) The school will give you a letter to give to the provider, who will then take care of the payment for you.
If you have any questions about the project, please contact Preety Mehta, your Extended Schools Coordinator, who will be happy to give you more information.
