Support for Families affected by bullying.

Parentline Plus and Mediation Herts are working together to offer advice and support to Hertfordshire families to feel more able to resolve any bullying concerns or issues they have within their child’s school.

Parent Support Workers
Each consortium has a parent support worker who can signpost you to services, support and information specific to your needs. See individual consortium pages for contact details.
The types of support available to parents, carers and grandparents are:

  • Parent Courses (facilitated by recognised parent support providers - usually free)
  • 1:1 Support (counselling, coaching etc - these may carry a cost)
  • Telephone and Text Support (offered by confidential providers)

The NHS Credit Crunch Stressline is open seven days a week and you can talk to a trained health advisor about the issues affecting you and your family. They can offer practical advice, direct you to resources and those who can help you, such as employment, debt, housing and counselling and talking therapy services.

Family Information Service aims to offer you the most up-to-date and accurate information available in your area for early years provision (children aged 0 to 5) and childcare for children and young people aged 0 - 14 (0-19 years for children with a disability). They are open Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Financial Assistance
If your family has a low income there may be financial assistance whilst your children are at school.
Benefits that may be available (subject to conditions) are:

  • Assisted transport (limited availability)
  • Education Maintenance Allowance (16+)

  • Help with music fees
  • Help with cycle training fees


If you are a single parent on income support and would like to return to work and receive in-work tax credits Work Solutions might be able to help with CV writing, application forms, interview skills, benefits advice and 1:1 back to work support for free.
