If you or your child need some additional support due to difficulties at home, disabilities or your own situation, then there might be other people who could help.
A few suggestions are below, but if you can't find the help you need, or would like to discuss your needs please give us a call or send us an email and we'll see if we can help.
Special Needs Support Group Tring
A local group of parents with children who have additional needs including Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder etc. The group is based in Tring and neighbouring areas.
This group has monthly get-togethers where everyone can chat and have access to their extensive library of helpful books, CD roms, videos and DVD's for a small hiring fee. There are also occasional relevant speakers.

Woodfield School - drop in sessions
Parents with children who have special educational needs can take advantage of Woodfield School's expertise. Every Wednesday there is the opportunity to drop in to take to the staff. See the leaflet for details.

SNAP - Special Needs Activity and Play
SNAP aims to provide a safe and enjoyable holiday play scheme for children and young people aged 3 to 19 years old, who have learning disabilities of varying severity. Some service users may also have physical or sensory disabilities or behavior that is challenging.
The schemes are based in local schools and provide equal play opportunities for a number of people across the Hertfordshire county region. We run our sites during the Easter, Christmas and Summer school holidays from the areas of Dacorum, St. Albans/Harpenden and Welwyn Garden City/Hatfield.

HAND - Hertfordshire Additional Needs Database
The Hertfordshire Additional Needs Database (HAND) has been developed by a group of parent representatives, voluntary organisation, and representatives from Herts CC to help improve planning and delivery of new services.
Each child or young person registered will be issued with a membership card, a quarterly copy of HAND News (a quarterly newsletter with news on services, activities and money advice) and regular updates on changes in services, play-schemes, holiday schemes and welfare benefits.

Mind helps people take control of their mental health. We do this by providing high-quality information and advice and campaigning to promote and protect good mental health for everyone. Contact a family - for families with disabled children
Contact a Family is the only UK-wide charity providing advice, information and support to the parents of all disabled children, no matter what their disability or health condition. We also help parents get in contact with other families.

SPACE - childhood bereavement programme
SPACE is a bereavement programme for children and young people aged 5 - 15 years and their families. It is a place where children are able to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences of bereavement through a number of activities, such as music, games, art and crafts, in a relaxed atmosphere. Please see your GP or health worker for a referral to the SPACE programme.

CRUSE bereavement care
Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Services are free to bereaved people. The charity can provide support and offers information, advice, education and training services.
