By 30th September, 2010, the full core offer of extended services was intended to be in place in every school. WAVES Consortium of schools achieved this status over two months ahead of schedule!

  • Primary Schools - access to childcare 8am - 6pm, 5 days per week, 48 weeks per year + a varied menu of activities (study support).
  • Secondary Schools - access to a varied menu of study support and enrichment activities + a safe place to be.
  • Access to parenting support + signpost sources of information, advice and support.
  • Swift and easy access to support services (for children with additional needs).
  • Community access to appropriate school facilities such as for ICT, sports and arts + access to adult learning.

Hertfordshire chose to use the consortium as a means of achieving the extended services provision. Thus schools and their communities are clustered together in a consortium - one for each clearly defined area of the county: a total of 38 consortia.

There are five consortia within the East Herts District Council area. Our Consortium (number 13) is known as WAVES - Ware And Villages Extended Schools. It includes 14 Primary, 2 Secondary and 3 Special Schools as well as two Children’s Centres.
