Extended Opportunities Fund

Extended Opportunities is a government fund aimed at helping children do the things they want to do, take part in sports and activities and get involved.

Activities outside of school hours can help children to stay fit and active, make new friends, learn new skills and gain confidence in many new areas.

Sometimes finances can make it difficult for many families to take part in these different activities.  Extended Opportunities is a government fund that aims to help children previously unable to take part simply because of this.

Certain conditions apply, and children and young people have been selected to participate. The project will provide children with the opportunity to take part in activities after school or at weekends or during school holidays.

This means children and young people will now be able to take part in activities they may have missed out on in the past, such as joining a club or activity, learning music, or simply receiving help with transport to local activities in your area. There is a variety of activities already available through your school’s extended schools programme – find out from your school, Extended School’s Extended Services Manager or Parent, Child and Young Person's Support Worker.
